Melmac DC, also known as DC Mak, is a unique isolation of the Penis Envy lineage, carefully refined by a mycologist known as “DC.” It carries the hallmark traits of its origins, exceptional potency and distinctive growth characteristics, while standing out as its own expression within the family.

Although it produces lighter spore deposits, this is typical of its lineage, and the quality remains notably high. As a result, Melmac DC has earned a reputation as a standout among Penis Envy variants for both its strength and refined genetics.

Appearance

The DC Melmac lineage these spores come from often produces Penis Envy–style mutations, particularly in the first flush. Like others in this line, it tends to spore lightly, which helps preserve its genetics over time. It also carries the classic Penis Envy look of short, large, and dense fruiting bodies and relatively small caps that have a golden-brown hue.

It was early summer in Colorado the mountains had been calling my name and luckily, I had a friend up for a morning hike. We embarked down the path while drinking some lemon tea mixed with the DC Mak I had recently acquired. The journey through the mountains was quite eventful for us but it was my friend who ended up having the more impactful journey. It was when we were safely at home when my friend, who is a musician, recanted his profound experience to me.

“Once we got to the bottom, we stopped to admire all the mountains. To me they looked like they were breathing back and forth. Calmly. And I wondered, “are they always doing this? Is this just the only time they allow us to see their true forms?” Then suddenly I realized there was an incredibly beautiful song playing in my head. It overwhelmed me as it seemed like a gift from the journey, and I realized I had created it. No one else had ever put it into song. I felt this incredible urge to write it and set it free. So, all the way home the walk down the mountain was fucking even more epic. My footsteps were keeping the tempo, the melody was so catchy I couldn’t possibly lose it, and strange lyrics kept pumping into my head.”

He ended up writing it when we got home and playing it with his band. When I saw them play months later it became one of my favorites.
